Dr. Richardson founded the Holographic Image Studio in 1992 after studying holography at the Royal College of Art. 1998 was awarded the worlds first PhD in display holography. His work with holograms began in 1987 and in 1999 was awarded a Millennium Fellowship by the UK Millennium commission for his work within inner city schools. Dr. Richardson and John Wiltshire are responsible for the patent on the application of holograms over the surface of digital versatile disks. UK patent number: 992 16681.1. Title: IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO DATA CARRIERS. and has a number of patent pending relating to the application of micro lens substrates as a gateway for the transmission of holographic images via a fibre-optic network. Commissions during year 2000 include the three-Dimensional cover lenticular for the Virgin release of David Bowie's "hours" album. IPC's Communications launch for web site "BEME.COM", design and project management for Peugeot's launch of the 206 Coupe Cabriolet and design and production of the worlds largest hologram for the "Kings Development Chelsea". He has also recorded the film directors Martin Scorsese and Alan Parker as holograms, as well as the Fine Artist Sir Peter Blake.
